It isn’t …
It isn’t necessarily about whether or not the milk is wasted. It’s the energy used in converting milk to fabric. Energy tradeoffs are one of the biggest dirty secrets of some of the ‘greener’ methods of doing something- essentially, if something is ‘greener’ up front, but takes 5x the energy to produce than something else, because of all of the OTHER things involved in production, it isn’t environmentally friendly.
@dancedanceyeah …
@dancedanceyeah It’s Eco-friendly when you consider that they use sub-standard milk that would otherwise have been thrown out. It’s a pretty cool form of recycling. ^^

I can’t see why …
I can’t see why anyone thinks this is “environmentally friendly”. Just because it is made of milk does not mean it’s good for the environment. People don’t understand the mass amount of deforestation that has occurred simply to raise enough cattle to produce the milk we currently consume. On top of that, the volume of milk we currently have is only because of processes used to chemically force cows to produce 4-5x as much milk as they would naturally make. There’s so much wrong with this.
